Meet Leonardo

Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, he learned to play guitar with his brother when he was 4 years old.

At 17, he began to working with several important musicians and artists, such as:

Julio Frade, Jorginho Gularte, Hugo and Osvaldo Fattoruso, Urbano Moraes, Fernando Cabrera, Mariana Ingold e Ruben Rada.

In 1990 he moved to Holland, where he lived until 2002. He performed and recorded with:

Fernando Lameirinhas, Joia, Laura Fygi, Josee Koning, Trijntje Oosterhuis, Metropole Orchest, Hein van de Geyn, Bacan, Dori Caymmi, Dulce Pontes, Ruud and Roeland Jacobs, Thijs van Leer (FOCUS) Jan Akkerman, Sticks&Strings, Jose Lopretti, Enrique Firpi, Beatriz Aguiar, Hans Vroomans, Lucas van Merwijk, Marcel Serierse, Philip Kolb, Eddy Veldman, Antonio Lameirinhas, Juan Pablo Dobal, Reno Steba, Lesley Joseph, Lilian Vieira, Estrella Acosta, Suriname Music Ensemble, Batida and Jimmy Haslip.

In 2002, he moved to Rio de Janeiro where he began to play with singer/songwriter Ivan Lins, with whom he has participated in several projects, not only in Brazil, but also in the USA, Japan and Europe.

Leonardo also shared the stage and recorded with artists like:

João Bosco, Caetano Veloso, Gilson Peranzzetta, Mauro Senise, Armando Marçal, Wagner Tiso, Alejandro Sanz, Jane Monheit, Simone, Marcio Montarroyos, Jorge Vercilo, Alcione, Leny Andrade, André Mehmari, João Donato, Mário Adnet (Ouro Negro), Elba Ramalho, Maria Schneider, Zé Américo Bastos, Vince Mendoza and the Metropole Orchestra.

In the USA, Leonardo has worked with important artists and producers like:

Stevie Wonder, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Chris Botti, Vince Mendoza, David Foster, Bobby Colomby, Walter Afanasieff and Humberto Gatica among others.

He is recently touring with the project "Lucia and Leo", with the renowned violinist and singer Lucia Micarelli.

Leo has already 5 Grammys Awards as an accompanying musician.
